NSPCC Schools Service

Speak out Stay safe is an online safeguarding programme for children aged 5- to 11-years-old. It is available to all primary schools in the UK and Channel Islands.

Our programme helps children understand:

abuse in all its forms and how to recognise signs of abuse
that abuse is never a child’s fault and that they have the right to be safe
where to get help and the sources of help available to them, including our Childline service.

Our assemblies, which feature Ant and Dec, support children to feel empowered - knowing how they can speak out and stay safe and include access to supporting classroom resources.

They are an effective way to support your school’s safeguarding duties and link directly to the curriculum as well as help reinforce key messages about abuse and neglect as part of your school’s teaching on relationships.

With the help of our mascot, Buddy the speech bubble, children will know they have the right to:

speak out and be heard
be safe
get help when they need it.
Versions of our assembly and resources are available in British Sign Language (BSL) for d/Deaf children as well as in Welsh. We also have a programme for children with:

special educational needs and disability (SEND)
additional support needs (ASN)
additional learning needs (ALN).
Please fill in our form if you're interested in our six-session SEND/ASN/ALN programme.

We believe it's important that our Speak out Stay safe programme is available to every primary school at no cost to the school. As a charity we can only do this thanks to our many generous supporters and amazing volunteers.
