Concessionary Fares
About the Bus Pass Scheme:

The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) gives free bus travel to people who qualify.

You can travel for free:
-
Monday to Friday: between 9:30am and 11:00pm

Weekends and bank holidays: all day
-

If you travel before 9:30am or after 11:00pm in Hartlepool, you pay 30p.
-
The pass does not work on private coaches or trains.
Who Can Get a Bus Pass? You can apply if you:

Are old enough to get a state pension

Have a disability that meets national rules, such as:

Blindness or poor eyesight
-
Severe hearing loss
-
No speech
-
Serious walking problems
-
No use of both arms
-
Learning disabilities
-
Cannot get a driving licence due to physical health (excluding drug/alcohol misuse)

What You Need to Apply:

If you have a disability:

Show proof like PIP or other benefits
-
If you don’t get benefits, explain your condition clearly
-
You might need a walking test
-
How Long Does the Pass Last?
-
Most passes last 4 years
-
They expire on your birthday
-
Some disabled passes may be shorter
