Concessionary Fares - Bus Pass

Am I eligible for a bus pass?

How do I apply for (or renew) my bus pass?

The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) is available to individuals who have reached pensionable age, or those who are Registered Blind or Disabled.

The scheme entitles individuals to free off-peak bus travel on all local buses throughout England (Monday to Friday 9.30am to 11.00pm and weekends).

A fixed fare of 30 pence is payable for any journey starting before 9.30am or after 11.00pm, Mondays to Fridays.  This fare applies to all scheduled services operating within, from or between the areas covered by Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils. The 30 pence  concessionary fare applies only to pass holders whose bus pass was issued by Hartlepool, Middlesbrough , Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Councils. Travellers who hold passes issued by other Authorities will need to pay full fare if they wish to travel before 9.30am or after 11.00pm Mondays to Fridays.

Pass holders boarding buses outside the area covered by the above councils will only be able to travel free of charge between 9.30am and 11.00pm on weekdays and at any time on weekends.

All passes are issued for four years, expiring on the applicant's birthday, with the exception of temporary disabled passes.
