Safeguarding Concerns - Identifying and Reporting Concerns
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding means protecting an adult's right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect.
Watch Teeswide Safeguarding Adults Board (TSAB) 'What is Safeguarding' video to learn more about safeguarding and why it is important.
If you are concerned that someone with care and support needs may be at risk of abuse and neglect, please visit the TSAB website or speak to your Local Adult Social Care Team to report your concerns.
Looking for further advise and support? Please visit TSAB's Find Support in Your Area directory, this can connect people with local services and organisations offering support across Teesside.
The Safe Place Scheme provides designated locations within the community where individuals who feel vulnerable, lost, distressed, or in need of assistance can go to access support and help.
Recognising the signs
Abuse can happen to anyone, anywhere. Recognising the signs is the first step in helping keep adults safe.
To learn more about the 10 types of abuse, view TSAB’s Easy Read Guide: Safeguarding and the Different Types of Abuse.
Could you recognise the signs of abuse?
Signs of abuse and neglect aren't always obvious. Watch TSAB’s new animation about how to recognise the signs of abuse and neglect.
See Something, Say Something
Safeguarding is everyone's business.
Every safeguarding concern reported has the potential to protect someone from harm and make a real difference to their life.
You could be:
- the person who notices a change
- the person who listens
- the person who asks the right questions
- the person who speaks up
- the person who makes a difference
See Something. Say Something.
