Money Transfer Scams (Advanced Fee)

Money transfer scams are fake emails that try to convince you transfer a large amount of money, often offering you a reward, such as a percentage of the money.

Scammers may pretend to be a lawyer, businessperson, or someone important and will often ask for a fee or your bank details.

The money and reward are not real, and if you share your bank information or send money, the scammers may steal it from you.

What You Should Do

  • do not reply to the email

  • do not send money

  • report it to Action Fraud

If you already sent money, tell your bank and Action Fraud right away.
