Service summary

1492 Group

The 1492 Group is a unique service for those who have survived brain injury, and for those who care for them.

This service is born out of lived experience. I was repeatedly told "This is as good as it gets". Well that simply isn't true, I now have a satisfactory level of independence! It could have been so much better had the services I required been signposted to me.

The 1492 Group will take you on a voyage of discovery. When you join us, we'll explore and assist you with additional support you may want to access with the aim of rebuilding your shattered life. We have been granted space in the Café area of Community Hub Central, which has great access being on a level surface throughout. There are also accessible facilities within the hub. The Café closes to the public at 2pm, so I hope anyone who would like to attend can meet there from 2pm onwards, so we can start to unlock your futures. The 1492 Group is here for you!

Community Hub Central is easy to reach, being on the main bus route in Hartlepool. Initially we'll start with a monthly meeting, so we can iron out any teething difficulties that may arise.
