High Tunstall College of Science
High Tunstall College of Science is a Good school that serves the community of North West Hartlepool and its surrounding villages. We are a truly inclusive college and the governors and staff strive every day to ensure that the very best education is provided for all; we truly place students at the heart of everything that we do.
At the heart of our ethos is the belief that it is our duty to inspire and support students, so that they achieve the very best that they can. This ambition has led to a dramatic improvement in the quality of teaching and learning across the college so that all of our students are now getting taught by teachers that are good and outstanding, first time, every time. To achieve this we provide comprehensive continued professional development that is bespoke to the needs of individuals within the staff. The results of good teaching can be seen in all aspects of school life and therefore our attendance, achievement and behaviour have all improved.
We build our provision around the Tunstall 20, which is a unique set of behaviours that we have developed so that when students leave us they have the attributes necessary to succeed in their chosen path. These behaviours underpin our teaching, our pastoral care and our extra curriculum provision and as such are a fundamental aspect of our vision for education.
This vision is fully aligned with the needs of further and higher education as well as businesses and we have numerous partnerships with organisations that are willing to provide their time and expertise to support our students in their progression towards adulthood. We have particularly strong partnerships with STEM industries and our commitment to this area of education is reflected in the fact that we are the first 11-16 secondary school in the country to receive the STEM Assured Accreditation, of which we are extremely proud.
