Railcards

If you travel by train or find it expensive, a Railcard can help you save money. You pay once a year and get one-third off most adult train fares. Some Railcards also give 60% off child fares or discounts for friends.

Types of Railcards

You can apply online (you’ll need a photo) or at a train station. Here are the five main types:

16–25 Railcard

  • For people aged 16 to 25 or anyone in full-time education.

  • Get one-third off train fares.

  • Enjoy discounts at hotels and attractions.

  • Costs £35 for one year or £80 for three years (three-year option only online).

Disabled Persons Railcard

  • For people with a disability that makes train travel hard.

  • Get one-third off your fare.

  • If you travel with another adult, they also get one-third off.

  • Enjoy extra offers and discounts.

  • Costs £20 for one year or £54 for three years.

Family and Friends Railcard

  • For adults travelling with at least one child aged 5–15.

  • Get one-third off adult fares and 60% off child fares.

  • Covers up to 4 adults and 4 children (they don’t need to be related).

  • Includes discounts on hotels and days out.

  • Costs £35 for one year or £80 for three years (three-year option only online).

Senior Railcard

  • For people aged 60 or older.

  • Get one-third off train fares.

  • Enjoy special offers at hotels, restaurants, and attractions.

  • Costs £35 for one year or £80 for three years (three-year option only online).
