Community Travel Clubs
Hartlepool Council has started Community Travel Clubs to help people get around.
What is a Travel Club?
A Travel Club is a group that helps people in the same area travel together. These clubs can be set up by:
-
Local groups
-
Transport helpers
-
Parish Councils
How Does It Work?
-
The club asks its members what kind of travel they need.
-
The council will help by providing transport or arranging it with other companies.
-
The transport is flexible – it can go to different places when people need it.
How Much Does It Cost?
-
The cost of each trip is set before the journey.
-
People using the service share the cost.
-
Prices may change depending on the journey.
What Vehicles Are Used?
The council has different types of vehicles, like:
-
Big buses (up to 70 seats)
-
Small buses (16 seats)
-
Vehicles that are easy to use for people with wheelchairs or walking aids
These vehicles are available:
-
Evenings
-
Weekends
-
Outside school hours
Private bus and taxi companies can also help with transport.
