How to Prevent Poisoning
Here are some simple ways to stay safe and avoid poisoning:
-
Don’t use your oven or grill to warm your house. It can make a gas called carbon monoxide. You can’t see or smell it, but it can make you very sick or even kill you.
-
Put a carbon monoxide alarm near your bedroom. Check the battery twice a year.
-
Keep your medicine in the box or bottle it came in. This helps you know what it is.
-
Ask the pharmacist for big labels. Big writing is easier to read.
-
Take your medicine in a bright room. Good light helps you read the label.
-
Show your medicine to your doctor. They can check if it’s right for you.
-
Never mix cleaning liquids like bleach and ammonia. Mixing them can make a dangerous gas.
