Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
(previously known as Disability Living Allowance (DLA))
If you are ill or have a disability that lasts a long time, you might get Personal Independence Payment (PIP). This money helps you with extra costs.
-
It doesn't matter what your illness or disability is. What matters is how it affect your daily life.
-
A health worker will talk to you and check what help you need.
-
The amount of money you get depends on how much help you need.
-
They will check this from time to time to make sure you still get the right amount.
If someone helps take care fo you, they might get Carer’s Allowance.
If You Already Get Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
-
DLA is stopping for people aged 16 to 64.
-
You still get DLA if:
-
You are under 16, or
-

-
-
You don't need to do anything until the government writes to you.
-
If your situation changes, tell them.
If You're Older
If you've reached State Pension age, you can apply for Attendance Allowance instead of PIP.
