Hearing Care

Hearing loss is more common than you may think.

In the UK, around 1 in 7 people are deaf or hard of hearing.  Most cases of deafness are caused by irreversible damage to the tiny hair cells in the inner ear.  The main reason for this is ageing, but exposure to too much loud noise (for example, in a noisy occupation) is another important cause.  Recreational loud noise, especially from MP3 players and the noisy clubs, is thought to be behind the increasing numbers of youn gpeople losing their hearing.

Taking steps to avoid too much loud noise is the key to protecting your hearing from the future problems.  If you are concerned about your hearing, consult your GP.
