Victoria Road
Victoria Road offers semi-independent accommodation for young people in Hartlepool aged 16-25 who are care leavers, estranged from family, at risk of homelessness or homeless and are in need of housing.
Victoria Road had 10 rooms, one self contained flat with its own entrance (ideal for move on) and two emergency rooms with a shared bathroom for those requiring temporary accommodation. There is a also access to a shred bathroom that contains a rise & fall bath. The downstairs area consists of a spacious newly refurbished living area with a recently refurbished kitchen and snack room for residents use, equipped with all the key essentials you require to make your own meals. There is a conservatory to the rear and a private garden for residents to participate in outdoor activities or just chill out. The property also benefits from a lovely small well equipped gym, a room with a pool table and has a lift for anyone with mobility difficulties
Please note, smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the property.
Eligible young people may stay at the project for up to two years subject to individual circumstances.
Each person at Victoria Road is allocated a key worker to develop a personalised support plan, which can include help with:
•money management including obtaining a bank account;
•employability skills, looking as employment, education or training options;
•registering with health care professionals;
•support to access a wide range of additional services such a s drug and alcohol or CAMHS;
•tenancy management and being a good neighbour
•cooking, cleaning and routines.
You will be issued with your own licence for the property and it will be your responsibility to ensure you comply with the terms and conditions of the licence to ensure your tenancy is not placed at risk.
Victoria Road is in the early stages of registration with Ofsted and is working to ensure full compliance with the new Supported Accommodation Regulations (March 2023). The Ofsted verification visit is still awaited (May 2025).

If you are eligible, Housing Benefit may cover the costs of your accommodation, if you are working, you will be expected to cover your own costs or make a contribution subject to individual affordability/financial assessment. If you are a former looked after child aged 16-17, HBC will cover your rent costs.

The entrance to the property is flat and is accessible for those with mobility problems or anyone in a wheelchair. There is a lift to the rooms which are all on the first floor, there is no ramp or changing facilities, there is a bathroom on the first floor containing a mobility bath which is suitable for those with disabilities or limited mobility.

Interpretation services can be sourced where appropriate.
Meals are not provided, however as part of their agreed support plan, residents are actively encouraged to source and prepare their own meals using food that is appropriate and in line with their cultural and religious needs and beliefs. Signposting is provided to identify local churches or mosques to support religious beliefs.
The service can provide documents in alternative languages and for example, displays evacuation procedures in different languages in line with the home language of anyone residing there.

Applicants (or their representatives) wishing to be considered for accommodation in Victoria Road need to complete a referral which can be obtained from [email protected] and return it to the same address, this will then be considered at the next supported housing panel and if eligibility criteria is met, will be invited to view the accommodation and attend an interview, an assessment will also be completed to better understand needs and inform the development of a support plan.
