Hartlepool and District Angling Club

The Hartlepool and District Angling Club was formed in 1949 by a small number of local fishing enthusiasts.

Peter (Pip) Arrowsmith, our club President was one of the founder members.

The club leased its first water, The Tilery 1960 and subsequently purchased it in 1966

Followed by a lease on Kenny ‘s pond which was then purchased in 1972.

Newbus Grange on the Tees was purchased in 1994

The club formed Dunelm AA jointly with Durham City AA in 1981 and purchased Chester Moor on the Wear in 1983.

The club is a founder member of the Lower Tees Angling Association (1996) which obtained the fishing rights to the impounded water above the barrage from Bousefield upstream almost to Preston Park.
