Parkinson's UK Campaign Volunteer
Job Provider
Parkinson's UK
Job summary
Our community should have access to the right doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to live well with Parkinson's. So why not get involved with our Can’t Wait campaign?
We want the NHS to have a plan that allows people with Parkinson’s to access consultants, nurses, physiotherapy, mental health professionals, and speech and occupational therapy. And we’re calling on new local integrated care boards (ICBs) to do that.
We want to ensure that no matter where people affected by Parkinson's live they receive the support and treatment they need.
Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Too many find it impossible to get the excellent quality care they need. Or they don’t get the best service from the welfare, health and social care system because it simply doesn’t understand Parkinson’s.
You can help change that!
This is a flexible role where you will be based in the community and can do as much or as little as you would like in your role as a Campaigns volunteer. You also have the flexibility to campaign in a way that suits you.
What you will be doing:
- Together as a team we’ll push decision makers to get better services, policies, and treatment for people affected by Parkinson's.
- You’ll work with other volunteer campaigners to share ideas and experiences.
- From speaking to politicians, writing letters, and inspiring others in your area you'll be involved in the aspects of campaigning that suit you.
The skills you need:
- A passion to improve your local area for people with Parkinson's
- Great listening and communication skills - able to explain complex information simply
- Great organisational and time management skills
- Ability to travel locally (travel costs will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy)
- Basic IT skills
