Alison Michelle Fothergill
I have been a Registered Childminder since 1995.
I have always been graded ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
My current grade is ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
I offer a home from home environment where children are respected and cherished.
Children are encouraged to believe in themselves and know ‘I’m happy and its ok to be me’ and be proud of who they are, their differences and achievements.
I have an excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stages and I follow this to further promote childrens development.
I also have extensive experience of working with children with additional needs, allergies, visual impairment, type 1 diabetes, Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Global development delay, Hyper mobility, Speech and language delay and special diets.
I have also cared for children with medical needs and take professional advice/training when required.
I practice basic/baby sign language with all babies and children with speech difficulties to assist in their communication skills.
The development, well-being and safety of all children in my care is paramount.
I help children develop the skills to be confident, outgoing, adventurous, curious, polite, considerate, caring and help promote their love for learning.
I teach children to be respectful of themselves, of others, cultures, disabilities, abilities, feelings etc.
I offer educational as well as social experiences.
We often go to parks, play groups, museums, farms etc. This is dependent on the children that day and their abilities, likes and dislikes.
My husband is registered with Ofsted to be my emergency assistant and to offer another pair of eyes, ears or hands if needed. He works full time so this is worked around his shift patterns.
I also employ 2 other assistants that are Registered with Ofsted for when times get busy.
All 3 registered assistants are Paediatric 1st aid trained, have completed safeguarding courses and are DBS checked.
I work closely with parents/carers and families as well as nurseries, schools and health care professionals.
