No, I don't live at number 73, but I am 73 years old and have smoked for most of my life - from the age of 17 to 73 (with a few spells where i'd stopped).  I have COPD and 3 months ago I had a really bad episode- the paramedics were at my house for a few hours and it came so close to me being admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.

This gave me a big shock and really scared me - I decided it was time for me to pack in.

I haven't had a cigarette in nearly 3 months and feel loads better.

I know it's not going to make my COPD go away - it's not a magic solution, but I feel so much better than I did 3 or 4 months ago, I know that it was the best thing for me to do.  I feel much more energetic and don't get out of breath like I used to.

I didn't use any patches to help me stop, but I know this has worked for others.  However, I have developed a serious liking for mints!!

I'm sure you can do the same as me and pack in and maybe you'll feel loads better too - believe me, you're never too old to pack in smoking.  Good luck!
