Nursing Homes

A Nursing Home may be appropriate if you have a disability or illness that means you need care on a frequent basis and cannot be looked after at home.

In addition to the services provided by a residential care home, a nursing home always has a registered nurse on the premises and can offer 24-hour nursing care.  Nursing homes may also provide specialist services to people with learning disabilities or mental ill health.  Hartlepool Borough Council can provide information to help you find a nursing home to meet your needs.  The nursing element of your fees will be paid by the NHS but you may have to make a financial contribution towards the cost of your accommodation, meals and personal care.  If you qualify for 'continuing care' - which means you require ongoing specialist treatment on a regular basis - the NHS will cover the full cost of your care.
