Description of Service
Seaton Hall provides residential care for the elderly in a home from home environment. The aims of Seaton Hall are:
- to encourage independence
- to support residents in achieving their full potential
- to involve individuals in making decisions in all aspects of their lives
- to include relatives and family members at every level of care relating to their loved ones
- to ensure an individuals dignity and privacy is respected at all times
- to provide access to spiritual comfort of an individual's choosing.
We will achieve these aims by maintaining a high standard of care and by assessing, reviewing and meeting the physical and psychological needs of each individual. We are committed to providing the highest possible standards of care through full care plans that are implemented by a key worker who will give individual attention to all daily needs. There is also a regular review with members of the family, senior carer, key worker and a social worker involvement. The care within the home is led and supervised by the manager who is supported by a team of qualified and experienced staff, who are regularly assessed and monitored by care sector regulators. The team delivers care with patience, kindness and understanding within a warm, safe, comfortable and homely environment that provides stimulation and encourages independence. Medication and treatments are administered by specifically trained senior staff. Doctors and Nurses from local practices visit the home on a regular basis or by individual appointment. Residents may choose to retain their own family Group Practitioner (GP), alternatively an introduction to a new practice can be made. The home is a Grade II listed building, it enjoys a prominent position at the heart of Seaton Carew's Conservation Area. It is full of character and old world charm and is positioned to overlook The Green and the North Sea. Bedroom accommodation for up to 29 residents is spacious, fully furnished and each has washing facilities, with some en-suite. Rooms have a television aerial point and a private telephone line can be arranged if required. Residents are encouraged to bring items to personalise their living space. Each room is fitted with 24-hour nurse call and fire safety systems. Bathrooms are well equipped and offer specialist bathing facilities to ensure that residents safety and personal hygiene is provided for. Handrails and bath seats help more able resident's to maintain their independence in this area of their care. Toilets are also equipped to promote privacy and independence with staff on hand to provide assistance if required. The home has a choice of lounges and seating areas offering different facilities and decor to compliment the rear wheelchair friendly courtyard that provides outside space for residents to enjoy. A separate dining room provides a comfortable environment where residents can enjoy the company of others. We have a laundry service to ensure that residents have an ample supply of clean clothes at all times. Food and mealtimes are an important part of daily life at Seaton Hall. Meal times are flexible and can be served in the privacy of residents' own rooms if required. Activities form an important part of the complete care plan and provide a sense or purpose through physical wellbeing and social contact. Residents are actively encouraged to continue with their hobbies and interests and the home has links with local faith groups. Exercise and movement sessions are provided and specifically adapted for the elderly. Professional hairdressers visit fortnightly, encouraging residents to take pride in their appearance. Outings to places of interest, bingo or dancing in the Social Club, walks along the beach and promenade are organised on a regular basis.

Our trained cooks prepare a choice of varied, nutritionally balanced and well-presented home cooked meals. Specialised diets are catered for and particular attention is given to residents with feeding difficulties. At present, our client base is English/Scottish and our cooks prepare meals suitable to meet their preferences. Our cooks are flexible and would cater for the diets of other ethnic groups should the need arise.
