Laurel Gardens
Laurel Gardens is a purpose built extra care scheme in Hartlepool designed to facilitate independent living within the community for over 55s. Completed in 2010, the development provides modern living alongside the provision of bespoke care and support packages. The facilities on site include a full time manager, residents’ lounge, bistro, hair salon, shop and outside gardens, with a lift and staircase to all floors. Within Laurel Gardens, accommodation is mixed-tenure; 30 two-bedroom flats for rent through Housing Hartlepool, plus 15 shared ownership and 15 owned outright. There is also a ‘respite flat’ for interim care and recovery outside of a hospital setting.

The building is wheelchair accessible, hearing induction loop within the building, the building has a fob access and door entry with camera protection to cover for secure doors. We can provide support, advice and access to adaptations for each tenants individual needs communal areas are also accessible for our tenants diverse needs.

Sign Language Class on a Tuesday Afternoon. There are staff within the organisation who can sign and also interpret and all information is provided in many languages Braille and also audio.

The Bistro can cater for diabetics and also vegetarian options. We have and can refer into services when requested by our residents to arrange for them at their request to access holy communion in their own homes.

Compass application form and a referral via Social Services SDAQ and support plan to access. All referrals are via Hartlepool Borough Council's Social Services Department and as vacancies arise they are assessed on the needs of both the applicant and the care/support needs within the scheme.
