Support Service for People with Hearing Loss
Hartlepool Deaf Centre delivers the Support Service for People with Hearing Loss project for Hartlepool Council. This project provides signposting and support to access services as well as social wellbeing activities for Deaf, deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing people living in Hartlepool. From our base in Café One77, 177 York Road we deliver a weekly Deaf Club has a mix of Deaf BSL users, deafened and hard of hearing people. Other activities are advertised when available, please have a look at our Facebook page or contact Rachel, HDC co-ordinator.
The weekly Deaf Club is every Monday (excluding bank holidays) from 12.00pm - 2.00pm in the café. The venue is fully accessible but please get in touch if you have any requests or specific requirements, we will do our best to meet these.
A BSL Interpreter is provided at all events where interpretation is needed.
In addition, there are regular health and wellbeing information events and opportunities to be consulted and included in service design, to help improve access for Deaf/deafened people. Support is also available to help with access to NHS services such as GPs, hospitals, occupational therapy and counselling, as well as other council services.

Costs
We ask for a donation of £1 towards the running of our Deaf Club if you can afford it, please check when booking your place.
There is no charge for signposting and support to access services.

The ground floor is all on one level and can be accessed freely without any steps. There is a changing places unisex toilet on the ground floor as well as male and female toilets. There is an accessible lift to the first floor meeting rooms and a smaller accessible toilet on that level.
We operate to high levels of deaf awareness with the layout of the room to accommodate sign language and lip reading. The café staff are very welcoming to anyone who visits.
Trained guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome.

Is there accessible parking on site?
There is limited parking in front of building on York Road and cars displaying Blue Badges can park on Lister Street, on the corner of Café One77. There is also a public car park across the road on Bailey Street.
