King Edwin School (Spark of Genius)
King Edwin caters for young people aged 6-18. All of our students have social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), or a need that falls within the autism spectrum (ASC/ASD). All students have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Class sizes are very small and each student has a key adult working with them at all times. The school has onsite therapy and counselling, and an Educational Psychologist supporting the personalised plan for each student.
We have animal care onsite, and a school farm for those interested in working in farming or just with an interest in animals. We offer GCSEs in a range of subjects, including English, Science Maths, History, Childcare and Psychology. We also offer the opportunity to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh award, and vocational qualifications in subject areas such as motor vehicle or Beauty.
The school prides itself on its core values of helping students develop their kindness towards others, a growth mindset and become resilient and responsible young people during the time spent with us. In doing so, our students become prepared for the challenges and opportunities of their next steps, from taking a more active part in their family or community through to taking part in further education or training. The parents and carers of our students are a key part of this, and we try to work very closely with each family to support the development of each of our students.
Our pupils say our school ‘feels like being part of a happy family’.
