Service summary
Matrix Neurological - Family Support Service
Bringing a brain injured child home from hospital, and dealing with the effects of a brain injury, is extremely stressful for parents and requires them to be able to adapt to what may be a life changing event. Increased pressures at home and difficulties they face on daily basis have a significant impact on their health and well-being.
Our family support workers will provide parents with information and emotional support to help them understand what has happened and the effects on the brain injured child. We ensure parents are aware of their rights as a Carer and offer a navigation service to the appropriate services they need. We try to alleviate some of the family pressures and improve their quality of life.
Children and young people also need support to have a good recovery and enable them to try and regain any lost skills and abilities. This is important because improvements can continue for many years post brain injury. Families, including siblings, need to know what they can do to help with that ongoing recovery journey and be supported to help ensure their children make the best recovery possible.
