Hartlepool College of Further Education

If you are aged 16-18 and you are leaving or recently left school and are looking to stand on your own two feet and to make your own choices, Hartlepool College is the right choice for you. We have a wide array of vocational courses created to give you the skills you need to meet the demands of local and national employers.

If Apprenticeships are what you are interested in - Apprenticeships are what we do best! With an outstanding track record of success we have continually topped the local league tables and this year hit an all-time high as the country’s second best college for apprenticeship success.

If you are aged 19+ we offer a whole host of courses for adult learners, from part-time leisure pursuits to professional qualifications and degree programmes. An alternative route for those who would like to go on to study in Higher Education but don't have formal qualifications is an Access to Higher Education route. Across all of our adult course offer we have the results to ensure you’ll be successful not only on your course but on your career pathway.

Studying for a degree doesn't have to mean going to university. We deliver a variety of HNC/HND, Foundation Degree and Degree programmes, in partnership with Teesside University, designed in collaboration with employers to ensure quality and relevance to industry.

With over 800 apprentices and working with over 300 employers, there is good reason Hartlepool College is the No #1 College in the North and No #2 in the country for Apprenticeship success, working with many great companies and partners.

It’s a job with training; an apprenticeship means you’ll be employed by a company and work for them but you’ll attend college to gain the knowledge and skills you need. Attendance at college differs by apprenticeship, some attend once per week, others on block release and some on long programmes spend the whole of the first year at college.

Apprenticeships have changed and many now lead to Higher and Degree apprenticeships. In lots of cases apprentices that complete their Level 3 Apprenticeship have the necessary entry requirements to progress to University, should they want to.

With so many courses and careers available, sometimes it can be confusing deciding where to start and where a subject can take you. Because of this, we employ professionally trained Careers Advisers that have extensive experience supporting young people and adults into education, employment, higher education or further training.
