Elwick Academy of Dancing

The Elwick Academy of Dance School was founded in 1949 by Miss Freda Compton, MBE. It all started predominantly as a dance school for children wanting to learn dancing skills as a hobby, but soon grew, and over the years modernised itself into a great training ground for children and young adults wanting to pursue a career in performing arts. Pupils have gone onto professional performing jobs both nationally and internationally. Over the years the academy has taken the titles of 43 national dance championships and 1 world championship and has seen 29 girls and 3 boys dance at the grand finals of Miss Dance and Master Dance of Great Britain. At the Academy we offer BATD examinations in Ballet and Stage Grades, all dance forms lessons, competitive events and live theatre performances. It is a non stop week on week practical experience, full of fun and enjoyment along with lots of dedication and hard work
