Service summary
Community Pastimes Hartlepool
Community Pastimes operates in Hartlepool and East Durham and has been developed to meet the needs of people living with dementia and their carers. The service provides group activities in various locations in Hartlepool to support people to engage with others, promote independence and reduce the risk of social isolation. Community pastimes also offers a 1:1 service on a private basis.
Clients use the Activity Service to access leisure facilities and to be supported in such activities as going shopping, going to the cinema or museums, attending tea dances or going out for lunch. They can also be helped to visit family or friends and attend sporting or cultural events.
The Sitting Service provides personal care and social stimulation within the client's own home and this also allows respite for carers. We play board games, carry out craft activities and listen to music. It is very much up to the client to decide what they want to do. Staff also prepare snacks in the home if the client wishes.
The service is usually available in 3 hour sessions from Monday to Friday between 10am till 1pm and 2pm till 5pm.
If the client is assessed as being entitled to local authority financial support then the service can be paid for through a Direct Payment Budget. If not then the service can be purchased privately at £52.50 per session (this also includes local car travel)
