West View Project Youth Centre
Children & Young People are the reason that West View Project exists. We have a wealth of experience in working with young people from all areas of Hartlepool and are proud that our own youth centre has remained at the heart of our work for over 30 years. We are committed to listening to what young people want, to working in partnership with others to ensure the best possible services for young people and to delivering a mix of simple & challenging projects that help young people to build confidence, self esteem and have great memories of childhood. Whether you are a parent looking for things for your child to do, a professional seeking to refer a young person to a service that will benefit them or a school seeking to better engage your pupils we will do our best to help you or help you find the help you need. Activities in sessions vary, but our facilities include, Arts & Craft equipment, Sports Equipment, Computer Games, Board Games, TV & space to chill out, and plenty of space to talk to friends and workers. Our current youth centre opening times are: Junior Club 5-7 year olds - Tuesday (Girls only) - 3:15 - 4:45 pm - Thursday (Boys only) - 3:15 - 4:45 pm Junior Club 8-11 year olds - Monday - 4:30 - 6:30 pm - Tuesday (Girls only) - 4:45 - 6:30 pm - Wednesday - 4:30 - 6:30 pm - Thursday (Boys only) - 4:45 - 6:30 pm Senior Club 11+ (Secondary School age) - Monday - 6:30 - 8:30pm - Wednesday - 6:30 - 8:30pm - Thursday - 6:30 - 8:30pm Our sessions run over 5 nights a week and are open door access. We ask that parents/guardians bring & collect children from the Junior sessions (particularly younger ones) on their first session so that they know children settle and so that we can have a completed consent form. Outdoor Learning Being outdoors brings a whole new perspective to learning and through our range of activities we can work with you to help add an extra dimension to your curriculum. Whether you want to celebrate a school achievement with a fun water sport day, to bring the story of the Gruffalo to life in the woods or to take children to explore for mini beasts we can help. We could even develop the skills of a group of primary school children so that they are able to look after themselves on an overnight camp! Personal Development Courses Our personal development courses have become a core part of the work that we undertake. Working with pupils from Primary or Secondary schools in small groups we use the outdoors as a tool to engage young people in a positive manner. This allows us to then help young people apply a similar process to other areas of their life by discussing weekly targets they can set relating to home or school. We can tailor the length of course & activity content to suit young people’s age and needs. We are also able to use a similar approach to shorter activity projects where suitable.
