Service summary

Granville Lodge

We provide residential and short break services for children aged 5-18yrs with complex medical issues and associated physical difficulties, we are regulated by Ofsted under social care provisions and our staff are individually trained to meet the specific needs of our service users. Our packages of care are tailored specifically for individual use. Granville Lodge is a converted Victorian house in a quiet residential street close to the centre of Hartlepool and all its amenities. We look after children and young people who cannot be cared for at home, most commonly because they need a high level of skilled nursing care. Because some of our children and young people live with us permanently we have made sure that Granville feels like a traditional family home, with bedrooms decorated to individual tastes. We organise plenty of trips out so that our young people can enjoy all the usual fun family activities on offer. Popular choices are Butterfly World and the Alan Shearer Centre. We also offer short-breaks for young people who normally live at home with their families. Short-break care Sometimes known as “respite care”, short-break care is aimed at young people who normally live at home. When a young person with a disability spends some time with us, they enjoy new experiences and meet new people. Meanwhile, their families get an opportunity to take a deep breath and rest. Residential Care This is for those young people who require high levels of skilled nursing care, day in, day out. The aim is to encourage our young people to be as independent as possible, and to master as many everyday activities as they can. Where possible, we aim for them to have a mainstream education.
