HARTLEPOOL Council’s adult social care services have been praised following a visit by inspectors.
Councillors heard at a meeting of the Adult Services Committee today (22 June) that the Council’s Direct Care and Support Service was judged to be “good” in all five areas and “good” overall following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Under the inspection regime, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) give a rating in five areas to determine how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services are.

Horse Riding is now more accessible than ever thanks to a new initiative that helps riding schools accomodate disabled participants. Accessibility marked riding centres have undergone specialist training from the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) to enable them to offer fun and safe horse riding for people with disabilities.

Well, what a busy month May was! Let's hope June is a little less hectic, but sunnier!
In the middle of May, we had the honour of meeting the Lord Lieutenant of Durham, Sue Snowdon for the official opening of the new Centre for Independent Living and she was not only impressed by the facilities and services here, but she also took a genuine interest in our work.

Meet Sylvia and Mary...
Sylvia has been visiting Mary as her befriender since November 2016 and Mary has benefited from regular visits and companionship from Sylvia during this period including shopping trips to Asda and Marks and Spencer.
