Praise for adult social care services

HARTLEPOOL Council’s adult social care services have been praised following a visit by inspectors. Councillors heard at a meeting of the Adult Services Committee today (22 June) that the Council’s Direct Care and Support Service was judged to be “good” in all five areas and “good” overall following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Mill House Riding Centre

Horse Riding is now more accessible than ever thanks to a new initiative that helps riding schools accomodate disabled participants.  Accessibility marked riding centres have undergone specialist training from the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) to enable them to offer fun and safe horse riding for people with disabilities.

Well, what a busy month May was!  Let's hope June is a little less hectic, but sunnier!  In the middle of May, we had the honour of meeting the Lord Lieutenant of Durham, Sue Snowdon for the official opening of the new Centre for Independent Living and she was not only impressed by the facilities and services here, but she also took a genuine interest in our work.
