Have you ever tried something that is completely out of your comfort zone? If you haven't, you should try it!!

Do you know in previous blogs when I have talked about the impact of disability on your life whether it is positive, or a negative, or is it a state of mind? The following link is a radio interview with 'RJ Mitte: I wouldn't be here without my disability' who starred in the award winning TV Series 'Breaking Bad'. His viewpoint on his disability is really interesting. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p045r5th
The new Centre for Independent Living continues to develop and you can follow the build from this link: http://www.hartlepoolnow.co.uk/followthebuild. At the time of this blog the new building doesn't have an official name and people are being invited to suggest names. The proposed names will be narrowed down to five and be voted on at the next Hartlepool Learning Disability Partnership Board meeting on the 28th October. So, if you have any suggestions please e-mail them to me: email@example.com and I will forward them on.
Have you ever tried 'Mindfulness', because it does seem to be everywhere lately! This link from the BBC website provides an insight and understanding and you may find it a useful tool in releasing stress and anxieties. Please follow the link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z9fgycw
We all know how stressful it can be when going into the bank, but can you imagine how anxious you may be if you have Autism? The following link shows videos from 'Scottish Autism' that can be accessed by people with Autism to help process what is happening when you go into a bank. Please watch the videos and share!! http://www.learningdisabilitytoday.co.uk//charity-launches-new-autism-friendly-banking-initiative.aspx
This month sees the end of our 'In Your Dreams Project', that supports people living with Dementia. It has been a pleasure to work with the people we have met and we take away our own special memories from the work we have carried out over the last 12 months. A big thank you to everyone who has supported this amazing project.
Joke of the month:
'Two Ariel's meet on a roof - fall in love - get married. The ceremony was rubbish - but the reception was brilliant'!!
My wings are aching and the eagle has landed, see you next month!
