Happy New Year Everyone!!
On a personal note, last year was a real rollercoaster ride and on a recent twitter feed we were asked to describe our year in 5 words!! We choose the following - Exciting, Amazing, Positive, Rewarding and Nerve-wrecking! I would settle for the same in 2016, but without the Nerve-wrecking.
We were fortunate enough to deliver 2 fantastic services last year, namely the Ricochet service which loans out tablets to people with additional needs and has gone from strength to strength. We also introduced 'In your Dreams' Service which provides opportunities for people with Dementia and their Carers to reignite their past happy memories. These services made a real difference to the lives of the people who we meet.
We ended the year by collecting for the People of Cumbria as you may have seen in the Hartlepool Mail for people who were left devastated by Storm Desmond and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who donated items for this cause.
Up until June this year we are looking for people to provide ideas for what should go into the time capsule that is going to be placed in the new Centre for Independent Living. We are keen to engage with people who access services, or staff members, or anyone who had contact with the old Burbank/Havelock Centre, or Lynn Street Centre to capture your thoughts - so please get in touch!!
Finally, as an Organisation we are looking forward to moving into the new Centre for Independent Living later this year and look forward to working with Stakeholders and Partner Organisations.
You might be pleased to hear that from February we will revert to the more traditional format for the blog!
