Don't quack like a duck, soar like an eagle!

Soaring eagle

We have been looking forward to October so much and no, it isn’t because its Halloween!  We are officially launching three new services this month, although we have been talking about them in our social media posts since August.  Due to our involvement with the Mental Health Forum, we decided that what could be more appropriate than going ‘live’ on World Mental Health Day, 10th October!

As well as launching our services we have created a job opportunity for a ‘Community Engagement’ worker and looking to attract two Choir Leaders/Musical Directors.  All three roles are funded, so check out our social media pages for more information.

Next week, please take a moment to visit the shop next to Boots in the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre and see the displays around this year’s theme; ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’ and what support is in place locally.  When using social media, please check out #WMHDHartlepool to see what is being posted.

This story comes in the ‘couldn’t make it up’ category!  Ben had his original application for the renewal of his Blue Badge turned down, the support letter from his GP is priceless!

I love a fighter and Heidi definitely is one.  Heidi had challenged the UK Abortion Law allowing abortion on babies with disabilities after 24-weeks; although losing on this occasion, like a true champion she has demanded a re-match and is going to appeal. An amazing woman!

Out of the same mould is Reece, 13, who was trolled after posting videos of his goalkeeping skills.  You may have seen footage on the news recently of Fulham players celebrating scoring a goal with him.  Check out his story and he definitely wins quote of the week!

Microsoft have created ‘passwordless’ log-ins for their systems.  I have used Microsoft for years, but this is the first I have heard of it, even though they rolled it out months ago!  I’ve read the article a few times, but still quite can’t get my head around it, which isn’t good news for #BlueDice members!  I’m just going to read it one more time ….!

As registered #CovidCommunityChampions we post regular updates of the latest guidance on our social media pages?

Our ‘Blue DICE’ service, in partnership with the Community Hubs continues to achieve great outcomes for the people attending.  Recent examples someone saving £150 on their car insurance, signing up to the NHS App to order repeat prescriptions, creating a ‘playlist’ for exercise sessions and signing up to the #BorrowBox service. Keep an eye on our social media pages for our latest drop-in sessions, pop along, meet the team and enjoy a cuppa in the newly opened #ChattyCafe

Please remember we manage the www.hartlepooladvocacyhub.com and identify appropriate and timely advocacy support to people who meet the eligibility criteria.

Here at Incontrol-able, we are proud to be part of CLIP and our aim to make Hartlepool a more inclusive place to live, work and visit.  They are carrying out a survey this month and I encourage people to participate – it’s an opportunity to make a difference.  Get your voice heard, don’t be forgotten, support CLIP and remember #OneCommunityAThousandVoices

Joke of the Month: Did you hear about the family with the U2 Sat Nav?  All the streets have no names and they still haven’t found what they are looking for!!

My wings are aching, the eagle has landed – see you next month!
