Hartlepool Now App Privacy Policy

Hartlepool Now's privacy policy is to respect and protect the privacy of users of the Hartlepool Now App. This policy statement will assist you in making informed decisions when using the App.


Information We Collect
The Hartlepool App does not request or collect any personal information and no data is collated that can identify an individual. No location information is captured and the App does not set any 'cookies', which are small files regularly used by web sites to track user behaviour.

The number of total downloads of the App and the number of Apps in active use are regularly logged and used by our team to measure effectiveness.

Aggregate information about all App users is collected, including the devices being used to download and install the App, what operating systems are being used and the content and sections being viewed by App users. This information is used to continually improve the App and optimise content within the App.

 

Favourites on Hartlepool Now
The 'Favourites' facility on the Hartlepool Now App stores data locally within the device on which the App is stored. This information is only available within the App and is not transferred in any way from the App, or to any third parties or to Hartlepool Borough Council. The information within 'Favourites' never leaves the device on which the App is stored.


Information for Providers and Event Providers
Some information about App usage is made available for service and event providers. As well as giving useful statistics this helps ensure  data within the App is accurate and up to date to the benefit of all users of the App. None of the information supplied to providers identifies individual users of the App.


Disclosure
We will not publish, give, sell or rent any information regarding usage of the Hartlepool Now App. However, we reserve the right to disclose usage information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Hartlepool Now's rights or property, other users, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities. We also reserve the right to disclose usage information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
