Special event for former Garlands and Flex-Ability staff
A special drop-in event will be held in Hartlepool next week to help former Garlands Call Centres and Flex-Ability employees to get back into work or into training.
Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council, it takes place on Thursday 3 June in the Sir William Gray Suite at Hartlepool's Maritime Experience from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
It follows announcements over the past couple of weeks that Garlands Call Centres and printed circuit board manufacturer Flex-Ability have been placed in administration with the loss of a total of 661 jobs in the town.
There will be a number of potential employers at the event including Respondez and Barclays plus recruitment agency Hays.
There will also be specialist advice on hand from support and training agencies including:
- the multi-agency Jobsmart team
- Jobcentre Plus
- Working Links
- Hartlepool College of Further Education
- Next Steps
- Business Link, and
- Hartlepool Credit Union.
Diane Martin, the Council's Principal Economic Development Officer, said: "We hope as many of the former Garlands and Flex-Ability employees as possible will come along to the event as there will be lots of support on offer plus a chance to meet firms looking to take on staff.
"We would also be very pleased to hear from any other potential employers who are interested in attending the event - they will have a chance to meet some excellent workers who are very well trained and have first class skills."
