In 2001, after 17 years of being a stay-at-home mum, Carol Goldsbrough decided it was time she did something for herself. Her youngest child had started secondary school and Carol, from the Owton Manor area of Hartlepool, wanted to get out of the house and keep herself busy during the day.

Thirty-eight year old Joanne Liddle had struggled with her weight all of her life. She hated going clothes shopping and was worried about the effect her health was having on her children.
"In February 2009 I decided to take action," says Joanne, a mother of three. "I realised I needed to change my lifestyle for the sake of my own health, and for my children's future health and happiness."

Mr and Mrs D were behind with their council tax payments. Hartlepool Borough Council sent reminders to the couple, but did not get any reply. Because of this, the council's bailiff team visited Mr and Mrs D to arrange collection of their outstanding payments.

Until the famous replica of Captain James Cook's HM Bark Endeavour visited Middlesbrough in 2003, Mike Bloomfield's experience of ships and sailing was limited to the occasional channel crossing and pleasure cruises along the Yorkshire coastline. Since then Mike's newfound knowledge and love of tall ships and sailing has taken him all over the British Isles, to the Canary Islands, and even as far afield as Australia.
