Youth Work - welcome

Hartlepool Integrated Youth Support Service offers a wide range of positive activities through its Youth Work programme.

Centre based youth work at spaces dedicated for young people's use we offer a wide range of activities including sports, arts and crafts, dance, cooking, access to computers and a range of projects (for example organising residentials) and issues dependant on your needs and interests. You can access advice and support if you need it from our team of trained Youth Support Workers or simply access social space with your friends. If you want to get involved in developing your skills through accreditation and specific courses you can do and gain recognition for your achievements. We also offer a range of additional support for young people to meet needs - for example C-card.

Satalite provision operate at a range of venues through the town where we don't have youth centres. This helps you access provision close to you. These operate along similar lines as main centres and generally meet twice a week.

The Detached and mobile team operate at a range of venues across the town. The mobile bus goes out to areas where young people are and offers a programme of activities and support to young people who don't necessarily access youth centres, through choice or because there is no provision in there area. Detached workers go out to work with young people where ever they are - street corners, parks etc. Not to tell you you shouldn't be there, but to give you the same access to support and activities as the young people who do attend building provision.

Special interest groups - for young people who want to become involved in activities around their specific interest for example music or require help and support to take part in something they are interested in for example Duke of Edinburgh.

Work with under represented groups - some young people have circumstances that mean they don't access open provision (where any young people can attend) and feel more comfortable with young people in similar circumstances or feel they can get the support they need better through sharing similar experiences. We have a range of groups to cater for this to ensure that all young people can access youth work.
