The Artrium
The Artrium is a successful user-led community art studio on Park Road, Hartlepool.
The Artrium's members, volunteers, staff and artists have created a friendly environment in which members can express their creativity using a wife range of media, including:
- watercolour and oil painting
- card making
- paper mache
- jewellery making
- glass painting
- pottery
- calligraphy
- Adobe Photoshop
Originally founded by two users of Brooklyn Day Centre - which provided a drop-in centre for people experiencing problems with their mental health - the supportive art group's aims and objectives include:
- breaking down the stigma and barriers associated with mental health
- improving mental health and wellbeing
- developing training, education and personal development
- promoting social inclusion and creating partnerships between local residents and agencies
- providing employment opportunities for local artists
