Could you cause a stir in the kitchen?
Budding cooks are being challenged to put their culinary skills to the test in Hartlepool's very own Masterchef competition.
Organised under the banner of the Safer Hartlepool Partnership, neighbourhood development officers from Hartlepool Borough Council are once again encouraging residents young and old to create a dish and compete for a top prize of £250.
As well as helping people to appreciate the nutritional value of healthy eating and cooking their own food, Hartlepool Masterchef 2010 aims to promote community spirit and intergenerational links amongst residents. The competition is open to individuals and teams of no more than three people, aged from 8 years to adult. Last year's competition saw 13-year-old Craig Lines from the Central Area blow away the judges with a prawn cocktail starter and chicken rossini main course.
Three heats and the final competition will be held during October half-term at the Belle Vue Centre in Kendal Road. All ingredients will be provided to a maximum value of £10 and event organisers plan to publish a cookery book featuring all recipes entered in to the competition.
Keen residents are being urged to sign up for a Masterchef application pack quickly as spaces are limited. If you think you've got what it takes to cause a stir in the kitchen contact Irene Cross for an application pack, by:
