Time is running out to show your Pride in Hartlepool

Time is running out for residents of Hartlepool to show their pride for the town by taking part in a photography competition.

Hartlepool Borough Council's Pride in Hartlepool campaign wants people to submit their favourite images of all that is good about the town - but the closing date for entries is Sunday 18 July.

So far, 37 photographs have been received and a short-list of entries will be put on display when the town hosts the Tall Ships Races 2010 from August 7 to August 10. Visitors to the event will then be asked to vote for their favourite photograph in each of two age categories.

Pride in Hartlepool officer Kate Ainger said: "We've already had some great entries, but there's still time for entries to be submitted.

"Photos can, for example, feature a favourite landmark, a local landscape, an event, a person or even an abstract image - so long as it reflects the brief.

"The short-listed photos will be displayed as part of Hartlepool Borough Council's Smarter Living Roadshow which will be housed in a marquee for the duration of the Tall Ships Races. Visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favourite photos by filling in a slip of paper."

The age categories are 16 and under and 17 plus. The winner of the 17 plus age category will win a full studio session and all copyright of photographs worth £375 courtesy of Exposure Photography in York Road.
