Council offers support to Garlands workers
Hartlepool Borough Council has given a commitment to do everything possible to provide support and advice to Garlands employees.
It follows the announcement yesterday (May 17) that Garlands Call Centres had been placed in administration with the potential loss of 621 jobs in Hartlepool.
Councillor Pamela Hargreaves, Hartlepool Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: "We are clearly shocked by this announcement which represents a big blow to the local economy and surrounding area.
"We have already had discussions with the administrator and will do everything possible, along with our partner organisations, to support the staff affected.
"We are hoping to meet the administrator in the next couple of days, but in the meantime Garlands staff can contact Jobsmart which offers a wide range of training and employment advice as well as information about accessing benefits."
Jobsmart
Jobsmart is a multi-agency one-stop-shop offering advice on training, employment and benefits. It is located at 41 Park Road, Hartlepool. Jobsmart opens on weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm, apart from Thursdays when the hours are extended to 6pm.
